Rifqi Sjarief Assegaf

Program Director Of Democratic Justice Governance And Regionalization

Rifqi Sjarief Assegaf has been involved in legal reform and anti-corruption since 1999. He holds a bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia and a Master and PhD program in Law subject from University of Melbourne with the support of ADS and AAS scholarships.

Rifqi started his career by serving as Executive Secretary, and later, Executive Director at  Indonesian Institute for Judicial Independence (1999-2007), an NGO in the field of judicial reform he co-founded and regularly collaborates with the Indonesian Supreme Court in promoting institutional reform. In 2005, he received The Asia Foundation 50th Anniversary Award in Recognition of Outstanding Contribution to Law Reform in Indonesia.

Before being appointed as Program Director of Democratic Justice Governance and Regionalization (DJGR) in KEMITRAAN (2021), Rifqi served as Head of Research Division to the Presidential Task Force on Combating Judicial Mafia (Satgas PMH) which was formed by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (2010-2011), and later became Assistant to Head of Presidential Delivery Unit for Development Monitoring and Oversight (2012-2014) where he helped oversee programs such as the preparation of the STRANAS KDP and the Presidential Instruction on PPK, correctional reform, and strengthening the legal system. Rifqi often serves as a consultant, collaborates with international institutions and writes articles for journals and chapter books, and also a part-time lecturer in Jentera Law School.
