The December 2025 edition of the RBP Newsletter highlights a series of efforts to strengthen forest governance in Central Sulawesi Province through collaboration among local governments, Forest Management Units (FMUs/KPH), communities, and KEMITRAAN under the framework of the GCF REDD+ Results Based Payment (RBP) Program.
Tenurial conflict issues became one of the main focuses. Through various workshops and multi-stakeholder forums, the provincial government was encouraged to strengthen its role as a facilitator and mediator in resolving forest area conflicts in a fair and inclusive manner.
In addition, forest potential inventory and mapping activities in various regions demonstrated a commitment to ensuring that forest utilization remains balanced between economic interests and conservation efforts. The identification of timber and non-timber forest products, environmental services, and biodiversity serves as an important foundation for data-driven forest management planning.
Efforts to improve community livelihoods through social forestry also became an important part of the series of activities. The preparation of Social Forestry Work Plans (RKPS), strengthening group capacities, and developing non-timber forest products such as local cassava processing on Peling Island demonstrate how forests can be managed as a sustainable source of livelihood.
Through this collaborative approach, forest management in Central Sulawesi is expected to provide balanced ecological, social, and economic benefits for present and future generations.
