PEKALONGAN – KEMITRAAN (Partnership for Governance Reform) together with the Pekalongan City Government held the Grand Final of Karisma Pekalongan Award Night 2023. The event campaigning for climate change adaptation actions took place at the Howard Jhonson Hotel Pekalongan, Saturday (9/12/2023) night.
The Climate Change Adaptation Program is funded by the Adaptation Fund (AF). Pekalongan City Government, Central Java. The climate change adaptation action campaign was held in various competitions for young people or Generation Z with the theme of climate change, including speech, scientific work, poster and short film competitions.
Adaptation Fund Pekalongan Program Team Leader Andi Kiki said, this activity was highly appreciated by the young people of Pekalongan and its surroundings. This is evident from the enthusiasm of the participants of each competition, which totaled 100 participants.
“We believe that people in Pekalongan in particular and in Central Java in general already have adaptive behavior, or adapt to the current natural conditions, environment and climate. This is because climate change conditions in Pekalongan have occurred since 2000, 2006 until now, and it is our shared responsibility not only the Government, Sub-District Heads or Village Heads, this is one of the reasons why this event was held,” explained Andi Kiki.
According to him, this activity was initiated as a forerunner of the involvement of the youth generation in Pekalongan to spark wider awareness of the younger generation. Secondly, this competition is an awareness-raiser for the community to improve adaptive behavior in terms of knowledge, understanding or good behavior in facing climate change.
On the occasion, Pekalongan City Government Representative, Imron Rosidi, said that he really appreciated activities that involved the younger generation to raise awareness of climate change with better adaptive behavior.
He appreciated the partnership of one of the institutions that has attention to the issue of climate change adaptation. In addition, it also invites young people in Pekalongan City to increase their awareness of problems in their area.
“Through a series of competitions and activities, it is expected to create a good collaboration between the government, civil society and young people in solving problems caused by the impact of climate change in Pekalongan City,” he explained.
Each winner of the competition category is entitled to a prize in the form of coaching money, first place Rp 5 million, second place Rp 4 million, and third place Rp 2 million and an award certificate.
