About the Project
The EnABLE Phase 2 Project strengthens the inclusion, capacity, and resilience of vulnerable communities to benefit from the East Kalimantan Jurisdictional Emissions Reduction Program (EK-JERP) supported by the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF).
The project promotes equitable access to carbon and non-carbon benefits, particularly for adat communities and women, while advancing sustainable, low-carbon livelihoods across 71 villages in Paser, Penajam Paser Utara, Mahakam Ulu, and Kutai Barat, East Kalimantan.
Position Summary
The SME Development Specialist will provide strategic and technical leadership to strengthen sustainable enterprises and low-carbon livelihood models at the community level. The role focuses on value chain development, SME strengthening, nature-based solutions, and capacity building to support emission reduction and sustainable land-use practices.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Advisory & Program Development
- Provide guidance on emission reduction programs aligned with low-carbon development.
- Assess existing SMEs in forestry and agriculture sectors.
- Develop recommendations and sustainability strategies, including exit strategies.
2. Value Chain & Livelihood Strengthening
- Conduct value chain assessments for priority commodities.
- Identify potential SMEs to enhance competitiveness.
- Strengthen sustainable agriculture, agroforestry, and nature-based solutions.
3. Capacity Building
- Develop training modules and capacity-building plans.
- Deliver workshops and demonstrations for facilitators and beneficiaries.
- Support pilot community business initiatives.
4. Knowledge Management & Reporting
- Develop knowledge products (briefs, infographics, case studies).
- Contribute to technical reports and donor submissions.
5. Stakeholder Engagement
- Coordinate with government agencies, technical institutions, and village stakeholders.
- Build partnerships supporting SME development and low-carbon initiatives.

Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, agriculture, forestry, environmental sustainability, rural development, or related field.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Additional certification in climate change or sustainable development is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 7 years of experience in low-carbon development, climate-resilient livelihoods, sustainable agriculture, agroforestry, or nature-based solutions.
- Experience working with SMEs (sales, digital marketing, packaging, private sector networking).
- Strong experience in community engagement and stakeholder coordination.
- East Kalimantan-based candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
