Prof. Dr. Valina Singka Subekti, M.Si. is a scholar at the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (UI), and an expert in political science. She served as a member of the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia (MPR RI) from 1999 to 2004, representing the Functional Group Faction, and as a member of the General Elections Commission (KPU RI) from 2004 to 2007. 

In addition, Valina was appointed as a member of the Selection Committee for KPU Commissioner Candidates and as a member of the Election Organizer Ethics Council (DKPP) for the 2012–2017 period. Her academic career began in 1982 as an assistant to Prof. Dr. Miriam Budiardjo. After graduating from UI in 1985, she became a permanent lecturer in the Department of Political Science at UI in 1987. She obtained her master’s and doctoral degrees in political science from UI in 1996 and 2006, respectively. 

On October 12, 2019, Valina was inaugurated as a professor of political science at FISIP UI, coinciding with the inauguration of her husband, Prof. Imam Subekti, as a professor at the Faculty of Medicine, UI.
