Dr. Philips J. Vermonte is an academic and public policy analyst with extensive experience in comparative politics, democratization, and international relations. He currently serves as Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the International Islamic University of Indonesia (UIII) and is a Senior Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Jakarta.
Dr. Vermonte earned a Master of Arts in International Studies from the University of Adelaide, Australia, on an AusAID scholarship, and pursued his doctoral studies in Political Science at Northern Illinois University, USA, completing his studies in 2012. He is known for his active research and publications on issues such as voter behavior, party systems, and Indonesian foreign policy.
As part of the Partnership for Governance Reform (KEMTRAAN), Dr. Vermonte contributes to strengthening democratic and equitable governance in Indonesia. His involvement reflects the synergy between academics and practitioners in promoting inclusive and evidence-based public policy reform, in line with KEMITRAAN’s mission to promote the principles of good and clean governance across various sectors of national and state life.
