Eva Kusuma Sundari, S.E., M.A. is a politician, academic, and activist with a strong commitment to social justice, strengthening women’s roles, and transparency in governance. She served as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) for the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) for two terms (2005–2014 and 2016–2019), where she was known for her vocal advocacy for inclusive policies that favor vulnerable groups. Prior to her political career, Eva was a lecturer and economics researcher at Airlangga University and a consultant for The Asia Foundation on democratic development issues.

Her academic background strengthens her capacity to formulate and advocate for public policy. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Development Economics from Airlangga University and then pursued postgraduate studies in alternative development strategies at the International Institute of Social Studies in The Hague, Netherlands, and development economics at the University of Nottingham, England. These educational experiences shaped Eva’s critical and progressive perspective on development and governance issues.

Outside of parliament, Eva is active in various civil society networks, including as a member of the Indonesian Women’s Coalition and the East Java Women’s Caucus since 1998, and as part of the Steering Committee of the Indonesian Forum for Budget Transparency (FITRA). Her involvement in these initiatives reflects the alignment of values and missions with KEMITRAAN (Partnership for Governance Reform), which is to promote transparent, participatory, and equitable governance. Eva’s contributions across political, academic, and civil society sectors make her a key figure in governance reform efforts in Indonesia.
