Sustainable climate action depends not only on efforts to protect forests, but also on how communities are engaged, their rights are respected, and stakeholders\u2019 capacities are strengthened. These are among the efforts carried out by the RBP GCF REDD+ Central Sulawesi Programme, as documented in this July\u2013September 2026 edition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Inclusive governance is an important foundation for ensuring that climate programmes are implemented effectively, fairly, and with community support. As part of its implementation, efforts to strengthen the application of FPIC (Free, Prior and Informed Consent) and GEDSI (Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion) in forest management and protection are also being carried out to ensure the participation of vulnerable groups in development processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The growing threat of forest and land fires reminds us that resilience to climate change must continue to be strengthened. Capacity building for Forest and Land Fire Control Brigades and Fire-Aware Communities, as the frontline guardians of forests and land, is being carried out to strengthen preparedness, prevention, and rapid response in protecting Central Sulawesi\u2019s ecosystems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the same time, protecting forests must also bring tangible benefits to communities. Support for social forestry groups and forest farmer groups is being strengthened to demonstrate that community well-being can grow alongside sustainable forest management. As the economic value of forest products increases, communities have stronger incentives to protect the natural resources that sustain their livelihoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This edition also features the story of Sepriani Jome, a forestry extension officer who demonstrates how change often begins with consistent efforts to accompany and support communities. Her dedication shows that the success of programmes is ultimately shaped by collaboration among government institutions, facilitators, and communities at the local level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The stories in this newsletter demonstrate that successful climate action is built through continued collaboration, participation, and capacity strengthening. When communities become part of the solution, sustainable forests and lasting well-being are no longer an utopia, but a shared reality that can be achieved together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
