The 3rd edition of the RBP GCF REDD+ Output 2 program newsletter in Central Sulawesi (Sulteng) highlights stories about strengthening the capacity of forest managers, not only from the perspective of government officials but also the communities who have received forest utilization permits through the Social Forestry (PS) scheme and Social Forestry Business Groups (KUPS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the government official side, the program conducted capacity building for Forest Management Technical Personnel (GANIS PH) and staff from Forest Management Units (KPH), Grand Forest Parks (Tahura), and the Central Sulawesi Provincial Forestry Office. The training covered the specializations they must possess, based on the Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation Number 11 of 2022 concerning the Profession and Competency of Forest Management Technical Personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Furthermore, through the Central Sulawesi Provincial Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), the program issued a Decree (SK) for the establishment of a Technical Team for Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting on the Implementation of Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction at the Regency and City levels. This was carried out as part of the Central Sulawesi Provincial Government’s commitment to implement Regional Regulation Number 9 of 2024 on the Regional Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPD) 2025\u20132045.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, for PS and KUPS managers, activities began with facilitating three community forest farmer groups (HKm) to prepare their Social Forestry Management Plan (RKPS) documents for 2025\u20132035 and Annual Work Plans (RKT), as well as the preparation of maps and boundary markers for forest management areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On another front, the Sivia Patuju KPH took a major step by creating an affirmative policy for 30 percent female participation in its activities. This effort not only succeeded in significantly increasing the number\u2014from 10 to 40 percent of total activity participants were women\u2014but also positioned them as significant actors of change in managing non-timber forest products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
KEMITRAAN, as the implementing agency for the RBP GCF REDD+ Output 2 program carried out by BPDLH, the Ministry of Forestry, the Ministry of Environment, and Central Sulawesi Province, views these joint efforts as part of strengthening the capacity of governance actors in Central Sulawesi. This is because KEMITRAAN believes that welfare can be realized sooner if all actors are meaningfully involved in the process of regional governance, including the involvement of women, youth, disability groups, indigenous communities, and other marginalized groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
